What we collect
Only what the product needs to work:
- Your phone number — to sign you in. Verification is handled by Firebase Authentication; we never see or store your one-time code.
- Birth details — date, time, and place of birth. These are used to compute your chart. Place of birth is a location you type in, not your live GPS position; we do not track where you are.
- Your name and preferred language.
- What you write to us — questions you ask, and anything you choose to record about your own life. This is what lets the app remember context between conversations.
- People you add — if you add a family member, the birth details you enter for them.
- Purchase records — what you bought and when. Card and UPI details are handled entirely by Razorpay; we never receive or store them.
- Usage and crash data — which screens are opened and what breaks, via Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics.
What we do not do
Why we collect it
- To compute your chart and produce readings — the core function of the app.
- To remember your history, so the app can refer back to what you have told it rather than starting over each time.
- To deliver and restore anything you have paid for.
- To fix crashes and understand which parts of the app are used.
- To send notifications you have opted into. You can turn these off at any time.
Who else processes it
We use a small number of third-party services, each for a specific job. They process data on our behalf under their own terms:
- Google Firebase — sign-in, push notifications, crash reporting, analytics.
- Supabase — the database holding your account and chart, hosted in India (Mumbai region).
- Railway — hosting for our servers.
- Razorpay — payments. They handle card and UPI details directly; we only receive a payment reference.
- AI model providers — the text of a question may be sent to a language-model provider to generate a response.
- Meta — this website carries a Meta pixel, so that we can measure which of our ads actually bring people here. It records pages viewed and whether a form was submitted, along with a scrambled one-way version of your email address and phone number, which lets Meta tell that a visitor was someone who had already seen an ad. Meta cannot read your email or number back out of it. It never receives your date, time or place of birth, and it never receives your reading.
- Google — this website carries a Google Ads tag, for the same reason: to measure which of our ads bring people here. It records pages viewed and whether a form was submitted. Unlike Meta, Google receives no version of your email address or phone number, scrambled or otherwise. If you arrived by clicking one of our ads, we also store the identifier Google puts in that link, so that a later purchase can be credited to the ad that brought you. It identifies the click, not you. Google never receives your date, time or place of birth, and never receives your reading.
If you installed our Android app after seeing an ad, Google Play tells the app which campaign sent you. We store that, together with a random code that identifies the installation. We record it when the app first opens, before you create an account— otherwise we would only ever learn about people who signed up, and never about people an ad brought who then decided the app wasn't for them, which is the more useful half. The code is ours and means nothing outside our own records: it is notyour device's advertising ID and not a hardware identifier, and it cannot be used to recognise you in any other app. If you do create an account, the two are joined so we know which campaign you came from. Deleting your account deletes it.
How long we keep it
For as long as you have an account. If you delete your account, your profile, chart, saved people, conversations, and memories are deleted.
Payment and invoice records are kept longer where Indian tax and accounting law requires it, even after deletion. Anonymised, aggregated statistics that cannot identify you may also be retained.
Your choices
- Delete your account — from Me → Settings in the app, or via our account deletion page.
- Get a copy of your data, or ask us to correct it — email us and we will respond.
- Turn notifications off, in the app or in your device settings.
Children
VedicBirth is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will remove it.
Security, honestly stated
Data is encrypted in transit, access to our systems is restricted, and payment details never touch our servers. No service can promise perfect security, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach affects your data, we will tell you.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that materially affects you, we will notify you in the app rather than quietly updating this page.
